145. Remembering NINOY Aquino

I have always admired NINOY for his fearless fight against dictator Ferdinand Marcos. He served as a catalyst for one of the greatest revolutions in Philippine history.  We must remember him, because in one shining moment in history, one-man inspired millions to forget our differences, and to unite for a greater cause.

Bought most of these pins way back in 1983 and up to now I still cherish them.
My personal Hero … NINOY.

Ninoy deserves the accolades that he has been receiving from our people since 1986 when martial law was finally dismantled and democracy was restored due to the People Power.  Commemorating his death is our way of honoring his supreme sacrifice of other victims of martial law who gave their life for the Filipino people so they can take back their lost freedoms.

Medals and pins commemorating Ninoy

For today’s generation who were not around during the dark years of dictatorship, there are important lessons to learn from a man who said that “the Filipino is worth dying for.” Like love of country, the willingness to pay the price of national freedom, fearless advocacy of human rights and the belief that justice will prevail in the end.

These "Hindi Ka Nag-Iisa" pins were the earliest pins that I bought after right after the assassination of Ninoy Aquino on August 21, 1983.  I remember buying them for 25 centavos each.
