Born on September 9, 1878, in Cebu, Sergio Osmeña's paternity was a subject of speculation, with two possible fathers: Pedro Singson Gotiaoco, a Chinese immigrant tycoon, and Antonio Sanson, a wealthy landowner. Recent DNA testing reported by The Freeman confirmed that Sanson was his biological father, finally putting an end to the mystery. Osmeña had chosen not to discuss his parentage during his lifetime, leaving historians and his descendants curious. Genealogist Todd Sales Lucero used traditional methods and DNA technology, obtaining samples from Osmeña's direct descendants and achieving a 100% match with the Sanson lineage. Although the revelation does not define his grandson, Tomas Osmeña, the former mayor emphasizes that the truth brings an end to speculations and that his grandfather's works and deeds matter most.
