31. Reliving THE BEATLES in Manila: A Beatlemania Collectibles

The Beatles have been a big part of my life since my elementary days.  From their iconic medley on the Stars on 45 album, which I listened to endlessly during my childhood, to my later research about their connection to the Philippines, the Beatles have been a constant presence in my life.

In 2001, the advent of the internet made it easier for me to expand my knowledge about the Beatles and feed my growing fascination with the band. I became an avid collector, focused on gathering anything related to their 1966 concert in Manila, as well as Philippine-pressed records and other locally made memorabilia.

My collection includes rare Philippine-pressed albums, vintage concert posters advertising the 1966 show, and unique Philippine-made merchandise such as tickets and stickers. I also have several photos of the Beatles, including rare pictures of their time in the Philippines.

It was a sad moment in Beatles history when the band was mistreated at the airport after declining Imelda Marcos's invitation to play in Malacañang. However, the vast majority of Filipinos remain huge fans of the Beatles and do not share Imelda's negative feelings toward the band.

Over the years, I have continued to add to my collection, always searching for new and interesting items to add to my ever-growing tribute to the Beatles. Whether it's a rare album or simply a new piece of information about their time in the Philippines, I am always on the lookout for ways to deepen my connection to this amazing band and their enduring music.

Some of my Beatles memorabilia were featured in ROGUE Magazine, January - February 2011 Issue.  The magazine ran out of copies because KC Conception was on the cover. I am glad I was able to get the last copy from this hidden magazine stand in Shangrila mall.

  1. I believe no Beatle had ever returned to the Philippines since 1966..maybe Paul and Ringo still have a chance.

    1. Paul McCartney declined an interview from a local journalist/researcher when he learned that this journalist/researcher was Filipino. That says a lot.

  13. I was born and raised in Quezon City and was 12 years old when the Beatles came in 1966. I did not see the concert but as a fan, I fanatically clipped photos from wherever I could find them. I left the country in 1983 and now reside in the USA. Today at 61, I still have in my possession several items I have kept and treasured from my childhood. Among them are several rare Sunday Magazine clippings of the Fab Four on Stage at the Rizal Stadium and at the Airport after being mobbed. I would gladly share scanned copies with you if you are interested. Just let me know how i can email them to you.

  16. I'm just 19 but I can honestly say that I'm a big fan of the fab four. Too bad I was born way too far from when their music hit charts or when they performed live. All i had were videos and documentaries and glimpses of what they used to be. I fell in love with their music. Not too loud, not too upbeat, but not too soft either. And its nice to see things like this. Some evidences of how great the band was. I also would love to have my own collection but I gotta admit it'd take hard work and lotsa money. Anyways, is there a museum or place in Manila which displays all stuff about The Beatles? I think it'd be great to have one. After all, despite the controversy which happened during their one and only performance in the Philippines, they're iconic. Who couldn't love the Beatles?
