The 1946 election was a close fight between Sen. Manuel

Roxas and Pres. Sergio Osmena.  Manuel Roxas of the

Liberal Party got 1,333,392  (54.94%) votes and won against

Sergio Osmeña of the  Nacionalista Party  who got 1,129,996 

(45.71%) votes

Rogelio Dela Rosa was the first Philippine movie actor

to ran for President in 1961 but withdrew his candidacy

for unknown reasons.  Before running for the presidency

he was senator for 6 years.

Political record of President Ramon Magsaysay. Locally his 

jingle “Mambo Magsaysay” was the most popular political jingle

of all time.  The lyrics go  “Mambo Mambo Magsaysay, Mambo

Mambo Mabuhay, Our Democracy Will Die, Kung Wala Si

Magsaysay!”

In  the 1986 Snap Election  Cory Aquino run against the dictator
President Marcos and lost due to the massive cheating.  These
Cory dolls and pins were very popular during the campaign

massive authoritarian corruption, despotism, nepotism,
political repression, and human rights violations.  He
was the most unpopular Filipino president of all time.

The assassination of Ninoy Aquino catapulted his widow,

Corazon Aquino, to the limelight and subsequently to the

presidency, replacing the Marcos dictatorial regime. These

pins  and memorabilia were very popular during the 1983

protest rallies against Marcos.
